Use this Information Technology website as your primary guide to computing information and troubleshooting in the College of Design. We try to keep pages current and concise. Please contact us at design_help@ncsu.edu if you have suggestions or questions regarding this site or its content.
If you have trouble, follow these steps to resolve your problem.
1. Check
the Online Documentation
2. Check out Other Help Resources
3. Ask someone at the IT Lab help
desk (203 Brooks Hall)
4. help.ncsu.edu
5. Send an email to: design_help@ncsu.edu
1. Online Documentation
Check the HELP menu in the application you are
using. Most applications provide a lot of good information there.
This website is designed to provide users with up-to-date
information on information technology facilities, services, and equipment
in the College of Design. Pages with specific information about these resources
in the College of Design are available through the navigation bar above. Information
such as: how to connect to the network, how to print, how to access the college
servers, etc.
2.
Other Help Resources
NCSU's
Computing Services' Computing Essentials website is a great resource for
Unity account information and other university-wide computing services, including
email and publishing your own web pages.
Manufacturers of hardware and software provide support on their web sites. These can be good help resources.
3. Help Desk
Ask the lab attendant at the IT Lab checkout window in 203 Brooks Hall.
If they don't know the answer to your question, they will direct you to an
IT staff consultant, an NCSU consultant, a printed user guide, or an online
resource. Please be patient with lab attendants as they are also assigned
to the checkout window. If you can suggest service improvements, send an email
to design_help@ncsu.edu.
If your problem is with your own computer and it's a laptop, bring it with
you when you ask for help.
4. help.ncsu.edu
We suggest you next
search the NC State Help Database at: http://help.ncsu.edu/
5. design_help@ncsu.edu
If you don't find an answer to your question
from any of the above sources, send an email to design_help@ncsu.edu
with detailed information about your problem.
We use the same help database as the NC State computer consultants so all
help requests go into a resource for the whole university. Routing your questions
through the help database is the most efficient way for us to respond to your
questions. All IT staff will have access to the details of your problem at
any time and future users will benefit from the documention. You should expect
an initial response time within a couple of hours during weekday work hours.
