Juniors at the College of Design are invited to apply for a new scholarship from Design Dimension Inc. that offers $2,000 and a paid summer internship. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2002.

Design Dimension Inc. is a multi-disciplinary firm that designs and fabricates exhibits, trade shows, prototypes/models, graphics, interiors, and custom installations for a wide variety of regional, national, and international clients.

Design Dimension has established a new scholarship/internship fund with the College of Design. The intention of the company is to develop a long-term professional relationship with select students that will include an internship during the summer and a scholarship during the academic year. Upon the completion of academic pursuits, the company will encourage the recipient to remain with the firm.

Because Design Dimension Inc. is a multi-disciplinary design firm, its projects require designers with broad skill-sets, strong backgrounds in fundamentals and the design process with concerns for both the functional and the aesthetic. Therefore, priority will be given to applicants pursuing two majors within the College of Design. However, this opportunity is not limited to dual majors. DDI will consider applicants from any design discipline.

Applicants for the scholarship should be students who have demonstrated a passion for design, are self-motivated, rigorously disciplined, and are committed to learning. This scholarship is designed to promote a mentoring relationship, providing the opportunity for students and staff to collaborate in the problem solving process.

The recipient will perform a paid internship at Design Dimension, Inc. during the summer between the Junior and Senior academic years. The scholarship portion of the internship/scholarship will apply during the Senior academic year. The amount of the scholarship is $2,000. The recipient may also continue his/her internship during the academic year. The scholarship will be available to the recipient in two equal installments, one at the beginning of each semester. The student must be enrolled at the College of Design for continued eligibility of the scholarship.

The criteria for application are:

• Dual majors within the College of Design are recommended but not required.
• Junior status within the College of Design.
• Minimum of 3.0 GPA.

1. a brief letter of intent indicating why you are applying for this scholarship
2. verification of Junior standing and GPA
3. 3 letters of recommendation from faculty from at least 2 different departments/schools within the College of Design
4. a brief resume
5. a slide or digital portfolio of your work Representatives of Design Dimension, Inc. will review the top candidates and meet with the scholarship selection committee to make a joint decision on the final selection of the scholarship recipient and intern.
