The Information Technology department provides file space on the server des-classstore for
use by College of Design students. ClassStore and Transfer are
housed on this server and available on all College of Design Lab computers
and to StudioNet users.
If you're interested in using the network drives ClassStore and Transfer on
your personal computer, follow these instructions.
Users may now access ClassStore and Transfer from off
campus by using NCSU's Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. Go
to http://vpn.ncsu.edu/, login using your Unity ID and password and allow
the software to install and connect to the campus network. You will need
to do this each time you want to connect to the campus network from off campus.
Once you are connected to the campus network via VPN, you can follow the
instructions below to access ClassStore and Transfer as though you were on
campus.
Please follow these guidelines
when using Transfer and ClassStore:
For you own protection, do not
keep your only copy of a file in Transfer or ClassStore!
Copy files to your local hard drive
while you work. Don't work directly from Transfer or ClassStore.
Files on Transfer are DELETED each
morning at 8:00 a.m. Once they are deleted, files cannot be recovered.
Please use Transfer as the name inplies—to transfer
files from one computer to another. Please delete files from Transfer when
you are finished to make room for other users' files.
ClassStore is divided
into folders for specific courses. Only students registered for a specific
course are allowed to use that folder. Students should create a folder and
name it using their first and last name. Other files and folders are subject
to be deleted.
Please limit the files in ClassStore so
that all users will have room for their files. ClassStore folders
are limited to 500 MB. Please remove any files you are no longer
using. Please remove any files over two weeks old. When you complete an assignment,
please remove all files related to the assignment to make room for others.
Files that violate the above guidelines
will be placed in a folder named: "****Clean These Out By _________"
(the blank will be a date). Users have until that date to clean up their files
before they are deleted.
WINDOWS XP INSTRUCTIONS (Windows Vista instructions below)

choose a drive letter (such as Z:) in the Drive: box.

or \\des-classstore.sod.ncsu.edu\transfer
(if you want to map transfer).
NOTE: classstore is spelled with
3 Ss.
The "\\" in front is important.
Leaving it off will cause the drive mapping to fail. Make sure that "Reconnect
at logon" is checked. Then click on "Connect using
a different user name."

Step #3: At the login window, in the User
name field type: WOLFTECH\yourUnityID (replace
yourUnityID with your Unity ID - i.e. if your Unity ID was jwolfpa, you would

OK.

Step #4: Your computer will attempt to connect
to the drive. If there are no errors, then you'll be returned to the previous
