Before going further, please read the information
about DesignPRINT.
There are nearly 30 public printers in the College of Design Information
Technology Labs and Clusters. These printers use
the DesignPRINT system. This page describes how to add printers to a
personal (non-lab) Windows computer.
If you are using a Macintosh computer, STOP HERE and go to DesignPRINT-Adding
Printers for Mac 10.5 or 10.6.
Using the steps below will add all of the College of Design IT Lab
and Cluster Printers to your Windows computer automatically.
This will only work from on campus.
Make sure you are connected to the campus network (If you're on wireless
use the "ncsu" network,
not "ncsu-guest").
Click
here to download the printeradd.bat file. (This file is also located
on ClassStore in the folder Information Technology\Public\Printer
Installers\Windows.)
Double click the file that was downloaded. It is named printeradd.bat.
When prompted, enter your Unity ID and password. (Be sure to put WOLFTECH\ in
front your Unity ID or your authentication will not work.)
No driver installation is necessary.
That's it. The printers will now be listed in your print dialog boxes
and your Printers and Faxes Control Panel.
You may purchase DesignPRINT quota at http://des-print.sod.ncsu.edu:9191/ using
a credit card. (NOTE: the ":9191" at the end of that URL is
required to access the system.) Log in there using your Unity ID and
password. Click on Add Credit on the left column and
fill in the forms provided.
You can also see details about your usage on the DesignPRINT system
at http://des-print.sod.ncsu.edu:9191/.
You may request a quota transfer between the College of Design's DesignPRINT
system and the University's WolfPrint system by clicking
here. Quota transfer requests do not happen immediately. They must
be received and processed manually. Please plan ahead.
If you have trouble, please contact the College of Design IT staff in
Brooks 202-204 for help. If you have a laptop you need help with, bring
it with you. You can also send an email to design_help@ncsu.edu with
specific information about your problem.
