Carolinas IFDA Industrial Design Scholarship
Donor: International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA) (established 1997)
Award amount: $1,000 minimum
Student must be enrolled in the Department of Industrial Design's Furniture Program. Applicants must be in their next-to-final year (juniors/third year in four-year program) and must be earning a B or better GPA. Awards shall be based solely on the excellence of work submitted. One faculty member and two practicing professionals will be sent flatwork images of the work for blind evaluation.

Samuel B. Hedstrom Award Endowment
Donor: anonymous (established 1999)
Award amount: set at income yield from endowment (01-02 amount: $1,250)
Provide an annual scholarship award known as the "Sam Hedstrom Award." All rising seniors in the Industrial Design program will be eligible. However, the award may not be made to the same student more than once. Eligible students will be invited to submit a single studio project, completed as part of the Industrial Design curriculum. A jury will be convened by the Department Head of Industrial Design to call for and judge the entries each spring so that the award can be made in the fall semester of the recipient's senior year. The winning student shall write an acknowledgment to the family of Samuel B. Hedstrom including a synopsis of the winning project. A copy shall be given to the advancement office to forward to the donor. (This is a memorial award provided by an anonymous donor, not the Hedstrom family.)

Merino Family Scholarship
Donor: Alfonso W. Merino and family members, IBM matching gifts (established 1986)
Award amount: $1,000
Undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Design; no restrictions in the scholarship criteria; however, the award has usually been given to an Industrial Design student. Candidates must demonstrate financial need and adequate academic performance. Scholarship to be paid in two equal installments, one at the beginning of each semester.

Stephen H. Robertson Scholarship in Industrial Design
Donor: Stephen H. Robertson (established 1983, revised 1996)
Award amount: $3,500
Provide a scholarship for students enrolled in the Industrial Design curriculum at the NCSU College of Design. The Scholarship will be made available each year to students who have attained sophomore standing or higher in the Industrial Design curriculum, and will be awarded by the Industrial Design faculty according to established procedures for awarding need-based scholarships.
